Anybody that knows me knows very well that my go to drink is a margarita (or any drink with tequila in it). However, when it comes to margaritas I can be very picky, which is why I love making my own mix at home! In honor of National Margarita Day, I’ve decided to share my homemade margarita mix recipe with you.
To start the mix you need to make a simple syrup, which is basically two parts water to one part sugar. To make a whole pitcher you’ll need to combine two cups of water with one cup of sugar in a sauce pan and simmer until all the sugar has dissolved. Simple, right? Cause it’s simple syrup (haha) don’t mind my pun, I’ve had a few margs alreadyΒ π.
Once all the sugar has dissolved, pour the simple syrup into a pitcher and let it cool to room temperature. (I am only making enough mix for a couple of margaritas in this picture)

Now, it’s time to talk tequila. Patron is definitely my go-to choice of tequila when I feel like being “boujee” (ugh, yes I just used that word but it’s so true). BUT, you can get this giant bottle of 1800 at Costco liquor stores for $40 SO….. obvious choice, right? Right.
Now, moving onto orange liquor. There’s not much to say besides this is what the nice lady at the liquor store recommended when I told her I was looking for orange liquor. Done.
Finally, time to make margs. I like salt on my rim. It’s as easy as rubbing a slice of lime on the rim of your glass and then placing the glass upside down on a plate of salt.
Now, mix the margarita mix, tequila, and orange liquor together in a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour into your favorite glass and garnish with lime. Time to drink up (responsibly, of course!)
